Dr. Robert Brown has been president of Boston University since 2005. Under his leadership, Boston University has strengthened its position as a leading private research university and deepened its commitment to quality, residential undergraduate and graduate professional education. Dr. Brown is a member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and the National Academy of Sciences. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the AAU. He is chairman of the Academic Research Council of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Singapore and also serves on the Research, Innovation and Enterprise Council, chaired by the Prime Minister of Singapore. Previously, Dr. Brown was provost at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He earned a BS and an MS in chemical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, and a PhD from the University of Minnesota.
